In the six months since the very successful Fast & Furious franchise, it was difficult to avoid the popular opinion that the series was over, and the writers were slowly losing their sense of storytelling. So much was happening in the world of modern street racing, it was hard to imagine that there would be a sequel to the first film. The characters were still evolving, and the movies were still interesting. But they were becoming formulaic, and becoming derivative of each other. One could argue that there are more reasons to have a sequel than there are to make the first movie a great sequel, but in the end, you'd have to ask yourself, is the second movie an improvement? Not quite. Fast & Furious 6 continues the story of Dominic (Paul Walker), who was taken prisoner by the Russian Mafia and given an assignment to work as a bodyguard for a guy named Hobbs (Statham) who is the mayor of Hobbs-Way. Hobbs is a man who is not quite sure what he wants to do in life. He has a passion for racing, and he has come up with a new way of competition that could change the world of racing forever. But Hobbs and Dominic are about to find out that their love of racing may have an unforeseen side effect. Fast & Furious 6 is a solid sequel, and I can't think of any problem with it. The story of the second movie is more focused on the character development of the main characters, and the flow of the story is more focused. While the first movie was more of a first-person shooter, this one is more of a cyberpunk movie, with the stories focusing more on the characters and their relationships. The first half of the movie is more of a character study of Dominic, who is still trying to figure out what he wants to do in life, while the second half of the movie focuses more on Hobbs, who is now a father to his son, played by newcomer Josh Brolin. For the most part, the second film is more of a character study than a cyberpunk movie. The story does have its ups and downs, and there are some parts of the movie where I found it lacking. But the action scenes are great, and the characters are likable enough that you could care about them more than the action. It's also a shame that there's no rivalry between the races, since that would have been really cool. I would be happy if the sequel was an improvement, but I can't say that this movie was. 8/10

This movie, for a bit of a change, was made for television, not the big screen. The cable guys did the right thing by turning it into a five-part series. That's how I felt watching it, but it's also the only way I could get the feeling of the show from the television version. But I liked it! Although it has a lot of crossover moments, it's still very much one of the R rated entries in the series. It has some humor, and lots of it. I have to admit that I was worried that they were going to ruin the show by making it PG-13. It's not really, but the PG-13 rating is so much more appropriate, and more friendly, than a PG-13 rating for a film. And I think that the PG-13 rating is necessary for a couple of reasons. First, the series is about very realistic sex. A lot of the shots of sex are totally real, and can be quite shocking. The movie is a bit more about the sex, but it is still much more realistic. It's nice to see the actors in all their glory, especially Sean Young as the sweet Angel. The sex scenes are also more realistic, and they don't feel gratuitous. In the TV series, the scenes were a bit silly, but here they are a bit more realistic. And the lack of the sex scenes in the movie is a good thing. This movie was made for television, and it just wasn't meant to be the type of movie that people will go to the movies to see. It's a shame that the cable guys didn't make it PG-13, but that's how it should have been. I was a bit worried about how a movie of this nature would fare on the big screen, but I have to say that I didn't notice the difference. The movie is well done, and it's really worth the two hours. One of my favorite scenes is the "Raptors vs. Predators" fight. The scene is beautifully shot and the tension is really building up. I give it a 10/10.

THE REAL CRISIS OF THE 21st CENTURY IS GROWING OIL: THE NEGATIVE EFFECTS OF OIL! My first take-away was that oil is bad for the environment. But the longer I watched, the more I realized that "oil" is not the only destructive force in the world. Gasoline, for instance, is also bad for the environment. But my favorite here is the negative effect of the oil industry on the global economy. The movie actually takes a decidedly anti-capitalist stance. The oil industry is an industry that makes a killing in the form of cheap dollars and thus makes the planet poorer. And, as you'd expect, oil companies have a vested interest in finding oil. Unfortunately, this includes not just those oil companies, but oil refineries that are just going to be bought out by the energy giant BP. Though, you'd think that a company would probably have an interest in its own air or water, but we find out it doesn't. Which leads us to the second problem: the problem of global warming. The US is the leading carbon emitter of the world, which means that we're responsible for about half of the greenhouse gas emissions that are causing the problems of global warming. Oil, for the most part, is the only fossil fuel that we can put to use and burn without destroying the earth. The only way to stop global warming is to find a way to burn the rest of our fossil fuels. But that's really a lot of hassle and time, so instead, we've focused on other things like fighting terrorism and protecting oil. When I saw this movie, I thought it was going to be about global warming, but it wasn't. It was instead about how oil companies have ruined the lives of people all over the world, which ultimately led to the war on terrorism. But I found the movie interesting because it was so anti-capitalism and anti-oil. And not just oil, but anything that contributes to the well-being of people. Maybe my point wasn't totally clear. Anyway, I highly recommend this film. I recommend that anyone who has a friend who is interested in pursuing a career in the oil industry and living the high life should watch this movie.
