Description In rural 1920s Virginia, the young Desmond Doss nearly kills his little brother Hal while roughhousing. This event and his Seventh-day Adventist upbringing reinforce Desmond's belief in the commandment "Thou shalt not kill". Years later, Doss takes an injured man to the hospital and meets a nurse, Dorothy Schutte. The two strike a romance and Doss tells Dorothy of his interest in medical work. After the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, Doss enlists in the Army to serve as a combat medic. His father Tom, a World War I veteran, is deeply upset by the decision. War is a scary thought. With the horrors of war and the horrors of living, I know that war is not something we should ever have to be confronted with. With a film like "The Hacksaw Massacre" you don't need to be so aware of the horrors of war, because you can already feel the tension and the horror of it all. "The Hacksaw Massacre" is about a group of Marines returning from Iraq. The movie starts out with one of the Marines in a hospital bed with his wife and daughter, and shows them looking at pictures of the area that was bombed and the people that were killed. In another scene, one of the soldiers has been sent to the local prison to serve time. Once the group returns to the US, the following events begin. The first thing that comes to mind when I think about "The Hacksaw Massacre" is the horror that this film created. The brutality of the American soldiers towards the Iraqi people. I also thought about the movie's horror about the war itself. When I think about this movie, I think of the beauty of it. There's no other movie that could have done this better. The acting in "The Hacksaw Massacre" is amazing. Hugh Jackman and Sam Shepard's acting in this movie is incredible. Every line that they say are amazing. Jackman is probably the best actor in the world right now, and Sam Shepard, as always, is absolutely amazing in this movie. I could go on and on about the acting, but I really can't. If you don't like war movies, don't watch this. "The Hacksaw Massacre" is an incredible movie. It is the best war movie I've ever seen.

As a Vietnam veteran I was deeply touched by this film. This film tells the story of a young Marine who was selected to go on a dangerous mission to help save the life of a young girl in Vietnam. The hero is a man named Desmond Doss. He is known to many people as "The Great One". He is portrayed as the greatest hero ever to live. He goes on a mission that no other Marine was able to complete. The war in Vietnam is long and difficult. Doss is sent to go out and destroy a machine gun nest in an abandoned camp. While he is there he meets a few other Marines who help him along his mission. The story of Desmond Doss is a story of determination and honor. As he moves forward in his life he grows stronger as a man and a Marine. He comes to terms with his past and realizes what a person's life is really worth. I believe that if you have ever been through a war you have already seen this story. But to really appreciate it you have to understand the history behind it. The message that this film sends is that if you have the will to do your duty and do it to the best of your ability you will be rewarded. It tells you that even though you may have seen this kind of fighting in the movies before, it will not change what you see in the news. If you have never been in combat it is a little different, but it is just as important. The film also tells you about the horror that war causes. I don't think I have ever felt so scared watching a movie as I did watching "The Great One". The film takes you through a tour of the country where the people are in a constant state of terror. There is something terrible about war that you can't get out of your mind. The battle scenes are very realistic and bring you to the point of seeing death as the people in this movie do. You also see the horrors that the Marines go through. There are scenes where you feel your heart break and your stomach turn. You just know that you are watching a true story. The acting is great. Both of the leads are very good. Tom Cruise was perfect for the role of Desmond Doss. He showed us what a man can do when he has the will and the honor to do his duty. Jodie Foster was also very good in her role as Aidan Turner. She showed us what a woman should be and show us that there is a way to overcome these horrors and to live a normal life. It was a wonderful movie that you can watch over and over again. The cinematography was very good. It was very well filmed and the sound was great. It was a wonderful film and I highly recommend it.
