Kicking off the cast list is none other than Harvey Keitel as a narcissistic, sexist, always suspicious boyfriend. Then there's the charming Elisha Cuthbert as the moody, eclectic bride who somehow knows that marriage is not for everyone and that she has no idea what her marriage means. She should, however, have just wanted to marry someone who had something to say about that or who was just plain smart and endearing. Tom Hanks, in an awful cameo, is the wedding planner who falls in love with Elisha. Keitel's perfectly normal abusive boyfriend is the victim of a simple trick from Keitel's scheme to get a bride. The wife, on the other hand, is a lawyer who basically has the perfect marriage plan. The wedding planner makes the worst move of all and doesn't even realize that the wife is having a secret affair with her best friend. It is a classic wedding planning mistake that has the potential to screw up a relationship. Even more amusing is the somewhat simplistic setup for the wedding. Keitel is on the phone with his mistress and I'm sure he wasn't going to miss the announcement on TV. And it is actually rather easy to guess who Keitel is referring to. The guest list contains a few big names (maybe a few notable ones) but none of them are the least bit memorable. The wedding itself is a little too restrained and conservative for my taste. The characters are extremely undeveloped and it seems to be a man's world. That doesn't mean the comedy is all that great. On the contrary, I actually felt a bit sorry for Keitel's character. He should have been portrayed as a woman who had a very bad marriage but turned around and decided to make it work. The cast is also too big and lacks substance. Keitel and Hanks are great but everyone else seems to be just trying to be funny. Some of the jokes are incredibly funny but others are not funny at all. I think it would have been better if they were given something to do to create depth in the characters. Instead they seem to be content with playing characters who are meant to be this outrageous and completely wrong. The result is that the only real character development comes from Keitel and Hanks. The rest of the cast are just there to be funny. In the end, there is nothing new or original about this movie. It was fun for the most part, but the jokes were predictable and it is very unlikely that I will get anything from the film. Maybe I should be thankful for that. My rating: 3 out of 10.

This film is an over-the-top adaptation of the 2004 novel by Michael Urie. Not that the film itself is bad, but it's the movie that has to be on for it's attempt to be a subtle, moving and effective film. The film was made with only a few dollars and with a real budget. It should be a fine example of what a film can be made in Canada. I found myself chuckling at the story and characters, as well as many scenes where I was laughing out loud. And, the acting is rather strong, especially by the little girl and her fiance. Overall, this film was very well done. But, for the most part, I believe that it is only able to do so due to the fact that it is a direct adaptation of the novel. Perhaps this is why it has a bit of a more dark, realistic feel to it, but I'm not sure. I think it's more about the story than the execution. I also believe that, in some places, the film fails in its attempt to be subtle, to bring out the things that are important to the story. But, that's OK. It's a story that we all love, and the film would have worked as well with the book, but it would have been much less effective, and thus not as moving. I also believe that the film does an excellent job of bringing to life the events that take place in the novel. I think the film brings out the most interesting and beautiful parts of the novel. It also brings out the most powerful aspects of the story. Overall, the film was quite a good adaptation. And, I'm glad that a Canadian film was able to bring out the message that this story deserves. But, the real strength of this film, and what really makes it stand out from the crowd, is the acting and story. They are definitely up to the task.

This is the first in a series of popular teen comedies that are the work of many talented people. This is a romantic comedy about three guys who meet each other for the first time at the beginning of their high school life. After a number of awkward months and some chemistry with their friends, their romance finally blossoms. The story involves both romance and comedy, and the humor consists of some pretty standard teen humor and slapstick. However, what makes this film so enjoyable is the strong performances by all the actors and actresses. Holly Hunter has the perfect innocence and naivety that is needed to play the lead role. She is sweet, funny, and has a natural attraction to Mark Ruffalo. Jeremy Piven, a student at the school, is a bit of a black sheep, but he does a good job in his role. And Jason Lee is a great gag character. They all give solid performances that make this film a fun, heartwarming, and enjoyable movie. However, I must admit that the film seems to have one flaw. It is slightly overlong. A lot of the humor seems to center around Mark Ruffalo's character, and a bit of the romance seemed to be lost in the production. And a few scenes did drag a little bit. However, the characters are so likable and enjoyable that I do not care much for the flaws. Overall, this is a very entertaining film that will leave you feeling good and smiling. It has that good, fresh feel and makes you want to go out and party and laugh all the way to the movie's end.
