The 1971 film of this novella, I Remember the Lonely Man by John Buchan, is generally regarded as the best of the Terry Gilliam films, and it was a film I watched when I was a teenager. My interest in this film was again sparked by my viewing the film of this novella, and as the story was very similar to the same story, I decided to give this film a go. This film is based on the novel of the same name by the same author. The film is not as good as the novel, but I still found the film enjoyable. It is a sort of fantasy/thriller with some surreal elements, and I think it is very watchable. The film stars Jeff Bridges as the title character, who is a newly divorced father of two young boys, and has his work cut out for him in the first year of parenthood. He is a very independent man, who lives in a one-room apartment with his wife, and his daughter. He has to be a better father to his two children, because they are watching television. But it isn't so easy to be a better father to a three-year-old. This film has many of the elements of the novella, like the character of the alienated father, and the old father-son relationship. In some ways, this film has a more modern feel to it, like a young man is being raised by a mother who is a single parent, and isn't that happy about it. This film has a couple of very different characters, and the father is rather different from the rest of the family. In the novel, the father is an angry alcoholic, and a hanger-on. In the film, he is a much more more aggressive alcoholic, and is much more like the other family members. This film also has a somewhat different take on the father-son relationship, where the father is the responsible one, and the son is the irresponsible one. This film has a somewhat depressing, and depressing ending, but I liked the film because of the positive and uplifting elements. This film was highly recommended to me by many people, and I was very pleased with this film.
