Description In 1972, Mason Skiles is a U.S. diplomat in Lebanon living in Beirut with his Lebanese wife, Nadia. They have recently begun caring for Karim, a 13-year-old Palestinian boy who claims he is without a family. While hosting a party, Skiles is confronted by his friend, CIA officer Cal Riley, who wishes to question Karim, whose brother has been linked to the 1972 Munich massacre. The party is attacked by Karim's brother, Rami, who abducts Karim; in the ensuing gunfight, Nadia is killed. Ten years later, Skiles has become an alcoholic and is working as a self-employed labor arbitrator in New England. While arbitrating a labor issue between particularly intransigent parties and struggling to keep his small firm afloat, he is approached by Sully, an old client, on behalf of the U.S. government..

The movie begins in Saudi Arabia, where a group of young and very poor Saudis have had their car accident and the next morning are found dead. The young men's car has broken down and they have no means to get out of the country. The young Saudi brothers Omar (Ahmad Naji) and Al-Malik (Abdul-Rahman al-Luhaih) decide to head to Canada to claim the car. They are met by Omar's father (Hassan Zahran) who has bought the car, and the older brother Mustafa (Mohamed Ben Ali) who has taken the car for himself. Omar and Al-Malik head to the USA. They take the car to an auto salvage yard, and in the process the car is wrecked. Omar's car is left in the yard with no cover, and Omar and Al-Malik get caught in a storm and fall into the ravine below. Omar is stranded and wakes up the next morning in a hospital with severe burns on his legs. He thinks that he was kidnapped by a group of terrorists who have been sent by their CIA boss (Robin Williams) to kill him. The CIA chief decides to do something about it, and Omar and Al-Malik are sent to a secure location where the terrorists meet and Omar meets a woman who has been held captive by them. The CIA chief is played by the always excellent Robin Williams and the woman is played by the lovely Julie Christie. Williams and Christie, and the rest of the cast, do a very good job of acting in this film. They give a very convincing and believable performance of the terrorists. This is one of those films that requires a little suspension of disbelief, and the CIA chief is a very convincing character. The movie is good enough to keep you interested, and I found it very exciting. I give it an 8/10.
