I was lucky enough to watch this on the eve of the Tribeca Film Festival. I'd heard some raves about this film and had been waiting for it to arrive. The only reason I wasn't ready to see it was because I hadn't seen it in years. I just wanted it to be good enough to revisit, but with all the awards and buzz around it, I wasn't ready to revisit. I've always loved Bollywood films, especially Bollywood films directed by an Indian, and I thought this was one of the best I'd seen in years. It is a film of a girl from an upper-middle class family, who is on the way to a career in journalism. However, her ambition is thwarted by her family, who, in a show of how society works in India, have taken her brother into care. She is placed in the care of an Indian aunt, who helps her and her brother get by in their new surroundings. The aunt wants to give the kids a better life than they are used to, but her goals aren't always met. She is not completely happy with her life and decides to leave her husband and go back to India. The aunt makes some hard choices, and after a couple of days she finally gets rid of her nephew. When the aunt finally leaves, her family becomes very worried about her welfare. The aunt is sent to the aunt's sister's house, where she meets a young girl from a poor family, who is very sweet and friendly. She is also very lonely, as she is the only child in the aunt's home. The aunt becomes very fond of her niece, and helps her get a job. The aunt is surprised that the girl is so kindhearted, and tells her that she can be a good part of her life, if she can learn to read and write. The aunt is so glad when she learns to read, and the aunt helps her learn to write. The aunt helps the niece learn to cook and cook a lot. The aunt also helps the niece learn to dance, and the aunt teaches her to play the piano. The aunt doesn't want her nephew to go back to India, so she tries to get him to return to her, but it doesn't work. The aunt and the niece form a very close bond, and the aunt is proud of her niece's abilities. This film is a must-see for any Bollywood fan.
