A harrowing, close-to-the-heart look at a man whose family and career have been punctured by substance abuse. The film opens with him doing some community service in an effort to change his life. At the end of it, he's just as broken and depressed as ever. Director Peter Bogdanovich's film is reminiscent of "A Bridge Too Far" and "Bridge on the River Kwai" in the ways that it shows the effect of addiction on a man's life. It's not the drugs themselves that make him a shell of a man, but rather the devastation his life has been reduced to. In the past decade, I've heard from many people who have been hit hard by addiction. Many of them were on methadone, a drug that helps people manage withdrawal symptoms. Methadone and a hospital stay can help the addict return to a life of sobriety. But as they know, there are consequences to their addiction, including prison. The point of this film is not to help people who are addicts. It's to show what an effect substance abuse has on a person's life. Many of the subjects in the film are friends, co-workers, and neighbors. The people who are most affected are often the ones who can most relate to the characters. In this case, the director shows the effects of addiction on a man whose wife left him, a man who was a successful sports announcer, and a woman who was an avid baseball fan. He does so with the exact same grace and honesty that he did in "The Pacific," another film I greatly admire. If you are at all interested in film, this film is a must see.

When you read about the film, the first thing that comes to mind is the amazing and haunting score from the late, great Howard Shore. The second thing that comes to mind is the cinematography. The first shot is of a young girl sitting on a beach looking at the waves and the music gives a sense of awe. The camera is slowly moving around her as she lies down in a beach chair, her eyes fixated on the horizon. The first shot of this film is like that. The story is deeply touching and the characters are very real. The character of the mother is very interesting and you really feel for her as she slowly goes insane as she tries to control her daughter. The father is completely destroyed by his daughter. His girlfriend is also very interesting and she comes from a different background to her than the rest of the characters. The father's personality changes when he tries to put his daughter in a different school and in the end he makes a very bad decision. The actor playing the father in the movie is great and it is a very sad movie to see. I think the story and the characters are strong enough to carry the movie but there are some scenes that just don't seem to fit and I don't know if that was because they were out of place or they were just not needed. The cinematography is very good and is what the story is really all about. The shots that show the life of this family are very different and it shows that the story is not like a typical movie. There are some parts that just don't seem to fit but it is hard to say why. The story is very slow but the acting is also very good. I am so glad I saw this movie. It is a very sad and powerful story about the loss of innocence and what happens to children when they are left alone to their own devices. The story is so beautiful and it is so sad and very real. The movie is about loss of innocence and the effect it has on children. It shows the children that all they need is love. The movie is very beautiful and it is one of the best movies I have seen in the last few years.
