In the year 2000, it was very difficult to find a movie that was serious and profound, but "In the L.A. Minute" was both. The movie's message is universal, but its message is also a personal one. The movie deals with everything from a man's descent into alcoholism to his mother's alcoholism and how they affected his life. It also deals with the effect of someone's alcoholism on their entire family, but it also deals with how people deal with their own problems. The main character, Louis (Matthew Broderick), has lost his job, is broke, and living in a squalid motel with his wife and her lover. His wife is trying to break up with him because he's always angry. He doesn't want to drink anymore because of all the pain he's been going through, but his mother insists that he drink and "You'll feel better." He goes into rehab for a few days and decides to tell his mother that he can't go through with it anymore. When he returns home, he finds his mother dead. He begins to cry, but quickly moves on to the next day and manages to meet with a man named Todd (Ben Stiller), who is a graphic artist. Todd finds Louis' mother's old drawing and tells him about it. Louis is impressed with the drawing and is drawn to it, but he is still upset by the fact that he is going to have to take her body away from her family. In the next day, Louis meets with the doctor and gets a diagnosis. He is diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. This leads to the doctor to tell him that he needs to spend time with his mother's friends, and Louis goes on a long road trip. Along the way, he meets with the drunken father of Todd's friend, who tells Louis that he is going to divorce Todd's girlfriend because he is going to become addicted to drugs. This causes Todd to quit drinking and start to fall in love with Louis. While this is going on, Louis tries to maintain his relationship with his mother, but he cannot because she has turned into a different person. This causes him to lose his job and his wife. Louis also meets a woman named Jane (Nicole Kidman), who he starts to have feelings for. He meets her when he is drunk and he falls in love with her, but she is not interested in him and they end up divorcing. It's one of the most realistic and dramatic movie I have ever seen. This is the type of movie that is so beautiful that it makes it hard to look at. This is the type of movie that gives the audience a chance to see things in a different light. I also love how they are using the music to tell a story. The movie is based on the life of Louis, but the story is based on the life of Todd. This is a very powerful movie. This is a must see. 9/10
