Description An unidentified woman is engaged in a brutal fight with a man in a car and finally dispatches him with a shot to the head. Five years earlier, the same woman, Riley North, is working as a bank teller in Los Angeles struggling to make ends meet. Her husband Chris owns a failing mechanic shop. They have a ten-year-old daughter, Carly. Chris' friend tries to talk him into robbing Diego Garcia, a powerful drug lord. Chris turns him down, but not before Garcia has already discovered his involvement and ordered his men to make an example of him. Riley and Chris take Carly out for pizza and to a carnival for her birthday since no one showed up to her party. At the carnival, Carly orders peppermint ice cream. As the family walks to the car, Diego's men gun down her husband and daughter in a drive-by shooting. She is wounded, but survives.

I am a huge fan of all things Fincher. Not just because he directed The Social Network but because of the way his films deal with his characters. In both Social Network and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, I was captivated by the "character" aspect of the films. I don't think that can be said for Iron Man 3, which only focuses on the "art" aspect of the films. In Fincher's other films, the character aspect is almost non-existent. But here, he gets away with it. Fincher is a very capable director. There are a couple of moments in the film where I was pulled into the world of Tony Stark, but it was never too obvious. There is a reason why the villain of the film was "minor" and not the main villain. And because of that, I was actually interested in what was going to happen in the film. Now, if this were a film made for the teens, it would be the same. But this is a film that takes the time to tell a good story. The acting is excellent. Robert Downey Jr. is brilliant as Tony Stark. And if you watch the movie with an open mind, you will really feel like you are in Tony Stark's world. But it is not just him. The chemistry between RDJ and Cheadle is fantastic. I cannot stress this enough. The writing in the film is very clever. The only thing that may bother you is that it does not feel like a real film. It is almost like a documentary. But that does not take away from the film. It is well-crafted. It also has some of the most interesting characters I have ever seen. The characters are like a dream world. I could have watched this film any number of times and I would not have noticed it. The acting, dialogue, and character development are amazing. The film has a story that is about real people, and it makes you feel like you are part of the world of Tony Stark. Fincher has created a masterpiece. One that I will be looking forward to watching again and again.
