Of course, we had heard of the big men of the 1980s. The 'black' guys (or more specifically the white men), the guys that put the 'stardom' on their face. The guys that talked about their stardom, and gave all the information about their career to friends. If you can't believe me, try listening to some of the interviews that happened back then. I had a friend of mine that had a cousin of his friend that was a DJ, who was really really famous in the early '80s, and his friend was known as a 'party guy' and a 'sex addict'. You have to be really pretty naive to believe that the aforementioned guy had ever been the 'bad guy' in the family. However, we had also heard of the French girls that did all the interviews, and had all the information about their personal lives. You have to be really pretty naive to believe that they were 'bored' when they did all those interviews. As for the guys that played those DJ's, they were like the 'baddies' in the family. What kind of a lifestyle is that? If it was just my opinion, I might just say that they were 'unlucky' that they had all those nicknames that they got back then, when they got famous. But even if it's not, I know of guys like Charlie Leach, and for that he got even more publicity than he deserved. I know he was too young to have gotten to those situations, but still. If you like 'Crouching Tiger', and don't mind to know a bit about the fashion back then, and the music, you might like this movie. For a little taste of a real life, in which a bunch of high class guys got famous, I recommend the documentary 'Living in America', made in 1987. It's the same story, but for a different, more realistic and more modern perspective, and of course it's also a 'black' perspective. I do not think that this documentary is of much importance, or even worth mentioning, but it's still a pretty good movie.

SOME IMPORTANT PLOT SPOILERS: There's a young boy who just comes into the small town and is not accepted. He has to fend for himself in the "hip" community of Los Angeles. He meets with a couple of guys who turn out to be the Mayor's bodyguard and some thugs. They tell him to stay away from him. So he does. He runs into this other guy who is working for a drug dealer, but he has a thing for this young boy. So he agrees to help him in some way. He does. He helps him smuggle the drugs out of the town. The boy goes on a rampage. He kills everyone. The police stop him, and the gangsters break in, and kill them. The boy escapes, and tries to come to terms with what happened. He tries to convince himself and others that it was all in his head. He goes back to the gangster, and asks for help. He helps him in some way, and they become friends. He gets in trouble with his ex-boyfriend, but the Mayor makes an exception. The boy is to be rehabilitated by the Mayor, and he does. He gets a job in the local diner and gets help from his friend. They don't want the Mayor to know they helped him. The Mayor gets hurt, and is in a coma for a long time. The gangsters and the Mayor's friends discover his condition, and do the wrong thing. They kill the boy, and the Mayor's friends get off scott free. The boy gets out of jail, and tries to get to his ex-boyfriend, but he is not there. They are away at a ski resort. The boy and his friend are still friends. And the mayor has to go to a mental hospital. And the gangsters get off scott free. So he tries to get back in the old gangster's good graces, but they don't like that he is trying to help the Mayor. So he ends up helping the boy get on the right track. It is a very entertaining movie, with some laughs. I recommend it.
